Spe - Solar Thermal & Associated Renewable Storage, Univ. de Perpignan, France
The University
University of Perpignan has been part of EUREC Master since 2011. Experience in teaching the specialisation subjects was initiated in 2005 when the master Solar Energy was launched. This cursus, mainly supported by PROMES lab staff, have graduated approximatively 250 students from 2005. PROMES is a CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) laboratory, EUREC members from 2008, specialised in concentrated solar energy.

Job perspectives
Engineers in solar industries (solar heating and cooling, solar power plant). Renewable energy project developers. Experts for National or International institutions.
Researchers in academic or industrial labs.
Research Activities
The research objectives of PROMES-laboratory are:
- To transform solar energy into heat, coldness, electricity, and hydrogen (solar fuels) using particularly thermal and thermochemical processes. It includes: low temperature solar thermal processes, solar power plants (CSP), concentrating PV (CPV) and solar chemistry.
- To qualify and to improve high temperature materials, and elaborate new materials using concentrated solar energy.
- To develop and to characterized new materials for solar energy conversion.
Original research facilities are available to reach these objectives: solar furnaces and solar concentrators, solar collector testing facility, solar cooling equipment.

The University of Perpignan offers the three levels of diplomas in further education: Bachelor's Degree, Master's, and Doctorate.
The harmonisation of university courses at the level of the European Union allows each student to choose his own course of study, in one main subject, with the possibility of branching out into other disciplines.
