29 Oct: Energy Academy Webinar: Energy Trilemma in Asia

Asia’s energy market continues to increase its presence in the world energy market. What are the consequences for the Asian energy market, when the shift to clean energy system is urgent?

The future of the energy sector in Asia will likely be driven by clean energy and innovative energy technology. In Asia, fossil fuels (in particular, coal) account for dominant share in its primary energy consumption now. But the share of fossil fuels is expected to decline because of the increase of clean energy solutions. Ken Koyama, Chief Economist and Senior Managing Director at the Institute of Energy Economics in Japan, will tell you about the energy reality and challenges in Asia from a broader context. This lecture will cover the three dimensions of the Energy trilemma in Asia: energy security, environmental protection and economic efficiency. It will also explain the ‘best energy mix’ concept for the region. Due to the time difference, the webinar is at 09:00 in the morning. Probably the best way to start your day!
